Dear Parents,

Cake Sale

Thanks to everyone who supported our Cake Sale today which created a fantastic buzz around the school. We are very grateful to all the boys and parents who baked delicious buns, pastries and cakes. Once again we appreciate all the work our Parents’ Association (PA) put in to organising this annual event.

Sixth Class Graduation – Wednesday 22nd July at 7pm in St. Mary’s Church

The sixth class graduation will take place on Wednesday 22nd July at 7pm in St. Mary’s Church. This will be followed by some teas, coffees and light refreshments in the school hall at 7.40pm.

Coats for school

It has been noted that there is a large number of boys who come to school during the year without a coat or a jacket. There are also a number of boys who bring a coat or a jacket in their school bag and decide not to wear it when there is wet weather. We are fortunate to have nice, warm weather this week but it would be a good idea for every boy to have a light rain jacket in their school bag in the event of a sudden heavy shower when school finishes for the day. Please make sure your son’s name is clearly marked on their jackets and jumpers.

Sunscreen

Going from one extreme to another! Could I please ask parents to make sure that they apply sun screen to their son before coming to school. The temperature may be in the mid-20s tomorrow.

First Holy Communion

Well done to our second class boys who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday 11th June in St. Mary’s Church. We are very grateful to the PA for organinsing teas, coffees and other refreshments in our school hall after the ceremony. Many thanks to Ms. Walsh, Ms. Staunton, Mary Dwyer and Dympna Hudson for all their hard work preparing the boys for their big day.

Art Exhibition

Our Art Exhibition took place in the school on Thursday 9th June from 1:45pm-8pm. This was an annual event pre-Covid. It took place in the hall and the downstairs corridors. Each student chose their favourite piece of Art from the year and these were all displayed throughout. It is a lovely way to celebrate the pupils’ creativity and many parents took the opportunity to visit the school throughout the evening. Many thanks to Anna Maguire and our SNAs for displaying the boys’ artwork.

Cricket team

Well done to the boys from fourth class who travelled to the Dublin cricket blitz in Marlay Park yesterday. The boys learned how to play the game and had great fun bowling and batting. Both teams of ten players won two games and lost one. Many thanks to Naomi Scott Hayward from Leinster cricket who organised the blitz. The boys who took part were: Daniel Abbott, Aodh McGonigle, Thomas Neerakkal, Eric Savin, Odhran Keegan, Abdul Hadi Tahir, Seljuque Syed, Tom Leonard, Zi Bin Liew, Adam O'Donnell, Awwab Syed, Ryan Webb, Ted McHugh, Conor Crowley, George Biju, Max O' Neill, Finn Brunton, Matthew Higgins Portet, Eolann Maher and Ion Turcan. Thanks to Mr. Keegan and Ms. Staunton for organising this initiative.
