Thursday Letter 19.05.22

Dear Parents,

Sports Day

Our Sports Day was a huge success last Sunday. I would like to thank all the parents that were involved with the Sports Day Committee for organising a brilliant event. I would also like to thank the teachers who helped out on the day. We were blessed with great weather and there was such a great buzz around the school.

New school website

We are delighted to announce that our new school website was launched last week. I would like to thank Ms. Friel and her committee of teachers for all their hard work designing this. Parents can download application forms, check the school calendar and see some of the various events that we celebrate during the year. You can also access our school Facebook page via our website.

Summer Camps

Sherpa Kids are running a multi-sports camp in our school from the 27th June to 26th August. Your child can attend the camp from 9am to 2pm for €95 per week or from 9am to 5pm for €120. Please check out the attached flyer for more information.

Martin Russell’s Soccer Camps will run his soccer camp in July and August. Please check out Martin’s flyer on our school Facebook page or contact Martin on 087-9526250 for more information.

Emerald Soccer Camp will run a separate camp from the 18th to 22nd July. Please contact Ciaran on 085-7151702 for more information.

Lucan Sarsfields Irish Language Camp

Lucan Sarsfields are running ‘Campa Samhraidh 2022’ which is a summer camp run entirely through the Irish language. It is open to all children in all primary schools, who are willing to use whatever Irish they have. It takes place from July 25th - 29th in Lucan Sarsfields GAA club and costs €55 for the week.

Booking is now open via their website www.lucansarsfields.ie and places are limited. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Bob-a-Job

This is the final week of our Bob-a-Job fundraiser. Our school secretary will send out a payment link to all parents today. The closing date will be Tuesday 24th May. We are keen to receive photos of the boys carrying out their chores at home. Please send your photos to info@stmarysbnslucan.com.

‘The Dust-busters Ltd’ was set up during the week and the founding members are hoping to allow their stock to float on the stock market. If there one thing these guys can’t tolerate and that’s dust. Well done to Shayne Khadun (Ms. Russell’s Junior Infants), Reuben Carr (Ms. Kenrick’s fifth class), Elliot Higgins Portet (Ms. Ward’s Senior Infants), Jake Flynn (Ms. Russell’s Junior infants), Jamie Donnelly (Ms Walsh’s second class), Eli Carr (Ms Staunton’s second class), Brian Kenny (Ms. Ward’s Senior Infants) and Jazim Khan (Mr. Shanahan’s third class).

Who needs Diarmaid Gavin around the house when you have green fingers like James Regan (Ms. Maguire’s Senior Infants), Cillian Fitzgerald (Ms. Walsh’s second class), Jack Martin (Ms. Walsh's 2nd class) and Ed Mortimer (Ms Russell’s Junior Infants) to manicure your garden.

Matthieu Higgins Portet is sure to put the Artisan out of business because the cups of tea for he makes for his mum are out of this world. If Matthieu does decide to open his own café then he can count on Aedan Fforster (Ms. Donovan’s third class) to bake delicious granola bars and Fionn Burke (Ms. Donovan’s third class), Tom Norry (Ms. Quinn’s first class) and Adam McCabe (Ms Kenrick’s fifth class) to wash the dishes.

Thomas Cooney’s (Ms. Walsh’s second class) car is so clean that he can see his own image from the bonnet.

Le dea-ghuí,

Dara Burke, Principal.
