Dear Parents,
St. Mary's Boys’ & Scoil Mhuire Girls’ National Schools' Sports Day – Sunday 7th May at 2pm – Volunteers Needed
Our School Sports day is on Sunday 7th May @2pm on the grounds of St.Mary's Boys’ National School. This is always a great community event in our school calendar and this year should be no exception.
The cost is €15 per family, if you have both boys and girls only pay once. Parents can pay online via Aladdin in either school up until midnight Thursday 4th May. Please bring a screenshot of the receipt of the online payment to the gate on the day. Alternatively, parents can pay CASH ONLY AT GATE ON DAY. Please have the exact money ready.
Our fun-packed Sports Day includes a variety of races and competitions including the egg & spoon race, 60/80/100m races, three-legged race, sack race, tug of war competition, tiny tots race and the infamous fathers’ and mothers’ race! This year we will have some inflatable games to keep all the kids (and adults) entertained between races.
The success of this great day relies on our VOLUNTEERS. And we need lots, so we’re appealing to all parents to consider helping out at one of the stations that require volunteers for just 30 minutes during the course of the day. If you are available to help, please email your name, mobile number and child's school and class to smgns.sportsday@gmail.com
Bring your water and sunscreen as it is going to be a fantastic family day!

All their practice and effort will culminate next Wednesday 26th April at 8pm in the National Basketball Arena. We are all looking forward to this performance. We are very grateful to Ms. Hunston, Mr. Keegan, Ms. Murray, Ms. Hennessy, Mr. O’Brien, Ms. Quinn and Mr. Lynch for all their hard work in recent weeks and months.
World Autism Day – Non-Uniform Day – Colourful Clothes
We celebrated World Autism Day on Friday 31st March and it was a great success. The boys created a human version of the Autism symbol and this aerial photo can be viewed on our school Facebook page and featured on the Liffey Champion over the Easter holidays. Thanks to Ms. Russell, Catherine Kelly and Rachael Kilroy for all their help with this initiative.
AsIAm is a charity set up by Adam Harris and is based on his own experiences growing up as a young autistic person in Ireland. Diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome from an early age, the condition was far less understood or even known as it is today. Frustrated at the lack of any real understanding of autism and by the many barriers the autism community were and are subjected to, Adam’s aim was to amplify autistic voice and start a national conversation. The AsIAm foundation were very impressed with our aerial photo and posted it on their social media. Adam Harris has agreed to visit the school on Thursday 15th June to talk to the boys about autism.
