Dear Parents,
Hurling
St Mary’s is very proud of our Herald Cup (Division 1) heroes who captured the prestigious trophy, for only the third time, in Croke Park yesterday. Captained brilliantly by Victor Adanikin, who overcame serious injury to play, they defeated a brilliant Belgrove team on a score line of 1-6 to 0-5, in what was a hard-fought and thrilling win. Huge credit must go to all 21 players as well as the Senior B squad who’ve supported them brilliantly in training in recent weeks.
A number of people behind the scenes have contributed massively to this group’s success and we’re hugely grateful to the following people.
Keane Windows; proud and continued sponsors of our school jerseys. Pat Senior and Junior, and all the Keanes, must have been very proud to see both Elliot and Will take to the field and capture winners‘ medals.
Our amazing Parents’ Association who funded personalised Croke Park t-shirts for the entire squad; they looked brilliant travelling to and from the final.
Vinnie Lynch and the Lynch family who sponsored a new hurley for every member of the squad; the buzz created yesterday morning was magic to see!
John Cosgrove, (and Patrick!) father of our sideline magician, Joseph, who took the time to personalise each hurley with the St Mary’s crest and player initials using a laser printer.
Paul Bolger, of PB Print Solutions, who provided our amazing Matchday Programmes, treasured souvenirs for players and families alike.
Donie Gaire, sliotar hunter and caretaker who goes above and beyond to ensure all players are looked after!
The victorious squad is:
Victor Adanikin, Shane Brennan, Senan Carley, Elliot Keane, Darragh Kennedy, Sean Lynch, Rory O’Connell, Calum O’Neill, Conor Gilmore, Colm Murphy, Conor Sheahan, Jack Biggs, Joseph Cosgrove, Liam Dunne, Dylan O’Byrne, Sean Solan, Harry Walsh, James Dillon, Alex McMahon, Johnny Donovan and Will Keane.
Best of luck to our senior B hurlers who play Pius X after school today. Thanks to Mr. Clandillon, Mr. Keegan, Mr. Shanahan, Ms. Teehan and Ms. Ryan for all their work promoting the game of hurling during the year.

Best of luck to our second class boys who will make their First Holy Communion on Saturday 11th June at 11am in St. Mary’s Church. We are very grateful to the PA for organinsing teas, coffees and other refreshments in our school hall after the ceremony. Many thanks to Ms. Walsh, Ms. Staunton, Mary Dwyer and Dympna Hudson for all their hard work preparing the boys for their big day.
Art Exhibition – Thursday 9th June from 1.45pm to 8pm
We are holding our Art Exhibition in the school today from 1:45pm-8pm. This was an annual event pre-Covid. It takes place in the hall and the downstairs corridors. Each student chooses their favourite piece of Art from the year and these are all displayed throughout. It is a lovely way to celebrate the pupils’ creativity and we encourage parents to take the opportunity to visit the school throughout the evening. Thanks to Ms. Maguire and our SNAs for displaying all this fantastic art.

We were delighted with our feature on News2Day on Tuesday. Well done to all our boys in first class and sixth class. Thanks to Paul Deighan (father of Eamon in third class) and Mr. Clandillon for co-ordinating this production.
