The Christmas annuals are now on sale in our school office and they cost €4 each.

‘Sugradh’ is for Junior and Senior Infants.

‘Spraoi’ is for 1st and 2nd class.

‘Siamsa’ is for 3rd and 4th class.

‘Sonas’ is for 5th and 6th class.

The annuals are full of activities, jokes, quizzes, crosswords, word searches, interviews and stories.

School Mass

All boys from second to sixth class attended Mass today to acknowledge the beginning of Advent. Many thanks to Ms. Hennessy and all the boys from sixth class who participated in the ceremony. We are very grateful to Fr. Ubaldo, Cathy Burke and Mary Douglas for co-ordinating today’s Mass.

Flu Vaccine

Many boys availed of the free flu vaccine in school yesterday. Thanks to Lombard Pharmacy for organising the service. Hopefully this will keep the boys free from the flu and help maintain a good school attendance after Christmas.

Engineers Week – Qualified technicians required for the 2nd to 8th March 2024

Engineers Week takes place from the 2nd to 8th March 2024. Denis Kelly (father of Robbie Kelly in fifth class) is organising mini-lessons for all the boys in the school but he needs parents to volunteer on one of the days during Engineer’s Week. We are looking for parents who are qualified technicians that include engineers or people with a trade. Please email the school if you are interested in helping out on the day (date in March to be confirmed).

Table Tennis

Our table tennis season is under way. Best of luck to team 1 who play Deansrath today in table tennis. Team 1 includes Ross Nolan, Ted McHugh, Aodh McGonigle and Finn Crawford. Teams 2 and 3 put up a good fight last week against St. Patrick’s NS from Drumcondra. Team 2 consists of Matthieu Higgins-Portet, Daniel Abbott, Adam O’Donnell and Conor Crowley. Team 3 includes Sam O’Brien, Peichu Liu, Finn O’Sullivan and Ruairí Dowling. Thanks to Mr. Clandillon and Mr. Lynch for organising training before school in the morning and for taking the boys to their matches.

Cultural Awareness

Last Friday we were entertained by some wonderful poetry and music from Spain. Ander Carton (Ms. Donovan’s third class) recited a poem about the sun and the moon. Luis Gonzaga (Mr. McHugh’s third class) read a poem about a lion. We look forward to hearing the language spoken by boys of Pilipino heritage tomorrow.

Le dea-ghuí,

Dara Burke, Principal.
