Thursday Newsletter 11/01/24

Dear Parents,

Half day for Inservice on Friday 2nd February

There will be an inservice day for our school and Scoil Mhuire GNS on Friday 2nd February. School will finish at 11.40am for all infant classes and 11.45am for boys from first to sixth class.

Student Council – St. Vincent de Paul fundraiser which raised €1,521

Our school raised €1,521 for the St. Vincent de Paul fundraiser before Christmas. The boys were asked to wear a Christmas jumper or a Santa hat and donate money. Our student council presented a cheque to Séamus Clandillon who works with the St. Mary’s Conference of St. Vincent de Paul in Lucan. It is great to support this worthy cause.

S-Cool News

The latest edition of our ‘S-Cool News’ can be viewed on our school Facebook page and school website. This feature gives updates on current school events and is totally child led with no input from teachers or adults. Thanks to Mr. Clandillon, Ms. Teehan and Ms. Hennessy for putting this presentation together

Table Tennis

Two games were held in St Mary’s today. Our Team III; Peichiu Liu, Sam O’Brien, Finn O’Sullivan and Ruairí Dowling, lost narrowly to Ballyroan in the Boys’ U13 Cup competition. Our Team I; Ted McHugh, Aodh McGonigle, Finn Crawford and Ross Nolan drew with the same opposition on a scoreline of 3-3.

Past-pupils representing Dublin GAA

It was great to see some of our past-pupils representing Dublin recently. John Bellew and Colm Walsh were involved with the Dublin hurlers who played Westmeath last weekend. We hope that Daire Newcombe will visit the school with the Sam Maguire trophy in the coming weeks.

Le dea-ghuí,

Dara Burke, Principal.
