Dear Parents,

Nativity Plays

Well done to our Junior Infant and Senior Infant classes. Today we were treated to great performances from Ms. Maguire’s Junior Infants and Ms. Garry/Ms. Noonan’s Senior Infants. Ms. Geraghty’s Senior Infants were excellent on Tuesday and Ms. Killane’s Junior Infants and Ms. Brennan’s Senior Infants put on a great performance yesterday. Thanks to Ms. Kyne, Ms. Byrne, Belinda Murphy, Laura Mooney, Cath Boyd and Teresa Munnelly for helping the boys and their teachers to prepare for their big day. We are also very grateful to one of our past pupils, Henry McHugh, for accompanying the boys on piano.

Footpath on Chapel Hill

We ask drivers to be mindful of parking on the footpath on Chapel Hill. Please allow room so that pedestrians and buggies and prams have enough space to walk by.

Sixth Class Treasure Hunt

Our three sixth classes visited the city centre over the past week participating in a Scavenger Hunt around Trinity College, Grafton Street and St. Stephen’s Green. Travelling on Dublin bus was a great opportunity to explore the many sights and also to soak up the Christmas atmosphere. Thanks to Mr. Clandillon, Ms. Teehan, and Ms. Hennessy for organising this event. We are very grateful to Ms. Hunston, Ms. Whitney, Ms. Kyne, Corinne Bagnall, Cath Boyd, Mr. Banahan and Ms. O’Shaughnessy for supervising the boys during the week. Check out our Facebook page for some great photos.

Magical Reindeer Food

The Parents Association have Magical Reindeer Food available to purchase from the school office from Tomorrow.

Cost is €1 per bag, please bring exact change.

Cultural Awareness

Last Friday we were entertained by some wonderful poetry and music from the Philippines. Kian Sia (Mr. Shannon’s second class) and Sebh Torres (Ms. Teehan’s sixth class) gave us some useful phrases in Filipino and some interesting facts about the Philippines. Xavier Lamsen (Ms. Joyce’s fifth class) recited a Christmas poem in Tagalog which is another popular language spoken in the Philippines. We look forward to hearing the language spoken by boys of French heritage tomorrow.

Christmas Jumpers and/or Santa hats on Friday 22nd December for Vincent de Paul

We are asking all boys to wear Christmas jumpers and/or Santa hats on Friday 22nd December. The boys can wear jeans or tracksuit bottoms of their choice. Please give them at least €2 as a donation for Vincent de Paul so that we can help some poor families over the holiday season.

School Closure on Friday 22nd December

School will close at 11.40am for all infant classes on Friday 22nd December for the Christmas Holidays. Boys from first to sixth class will finish at 11.45am. School will re-open again on Monday 8th January 2024 at 9am.

Le dea-ghuí,

Dara Burke, Principal.
