Dear Parents,

Maths Week 2024

Next week we will be celebrating Maths Week 2024. Mr. Shanahan’s sixth class will be hosting maths activities in the hall on Wednesday where all of the boys from each class will get the opportunity to engage in a variety of maths challenges and games. All classes will also participate in various activities in their own classrooms throughout the week. Please check out our Facebook page to see the boys completing some of the activities. Thanks to Ms. Whitney for organising these events.

Student Council

There was great excitement in the school this week as the boys from third to sixth class got a chance to vote in a Student Council election. Over the past few weeks the boys had an opportunity to put themselves forward as a candidate. They designed their own posters and encouraged others to vote for them. Their posters were displayed around the school for all to see. Each candidate was also given the opportunity to speak in front of their class mates and explain what they hoped to achieve if they were chosen to be a representative on this year’s Student Council.

On Tuesday there was a polling station set up in the hall. Each class from third to sixth had a chance to visit the polling station and cast their vote by filling out the ballot papers and posting it in the ballot box. We were very lucky to have last year’s student council members to help out on the day and thank them for all their hard work. We are very grateful to Ms. Friel, Ms. Walsh and Ms. Whitney for co-ordinating this democratic process. Well done to all of the boys who put their names forward as a candidate and congratulations to the boys who got elected. Here are our new Student Council members:

Movie Night for Junior Infants to First Class

Our Movie Night in the School Hall was a great success last on Friday. Our Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class really enjoyed the event. Our Parents Association (PA) rented a special popcorn machine for the night and the boys also had some jellies and a drink. Thanks to our PA for organising yet another event that is covered by your donation to the PA (€100/€150).

Lucan Sarsfields County under 16 division 1 hurling Champions

Well done to the under 16 Lucan Sarsfields hurling team who beat Raheny to win the division 1 county final in Lucan Sarsfields club pitch on Saturday. There are many past pupils involved with this team.

Our school will be open on Friday 29th November for the General Election

We have received some phone calls in recent days regarding our school being closed on Friday 29th November for the General Election. Our school is not a polling station so we will be open as normal on Friday 29th November.
