Dear Parents,

Research Ireland Curious Minds Award – Gold Award

Our school achieved a Research Ireland Curious Minds Award. Our Log of Evidence was evaluated and the judges were satisfied that we met all the criteria for the Gold Award.
Our school has provided evidence of children's engagement with STEM in the following areas:

  1. Science
  2. Technology
  3. Engineering
  4. Maths
  5. STEM Showcase

Here is some feedback on our Log of Evidence:

Congratulations to St Marys National School on your amazing achievement! Your school has done a lot of valuable STEM work throughout the year. Well done to all the learners and teachers, you should be very proud of yourselves. Your school has done amazing work to help care for your environment by helping with your local Tidy Towns and making your own organic bird feeders. It is great to see that your Green Schools Committee is always on hand to answer any of the learners’ questions about the environment. Well done for hosting your own Maths and Science Fairs for your school, it is great to showcase all the brilliant STEM work you have done. Keep up all the amazing work future Scientists!

Thanks to Ms. Whitney and all the teachers and boys that were involved with the collation of our Log of Evidence.

Sports Day – Sunday, 8th June at 2pm

Mark your calendars! Our annual School Sports Day 2025 takes place on Sunday, 8th June at 2pm, and it's shaping up to be another fantastic event. Always a highlight of the school calendar, Sports Day brings our whole community together, from our newest incoming junior infants to the sixth class boys preparing to say farewell to primary school.

Entry is €15 per family, payable in cash at the gate or via the Aladdin payment link, which goes live tomorrow Friday, 23rd May.

A full schedule of events will be sent home on the Friday before Sports Day, including race times so you can plan your day.

As always, we need your help to make the day a success. From setup in the morning to managing stations and tidying up at the end, Sports Day depends on volunteers. The Parents’ Association is asking for at least six parents per class to volunteer just 30 minutes of their time.

If you’re available, please sign up using Sign Up Genius —you’ll be able to choose a time slot and station that works for you.

Looking forward to another great day!

First Holy Communion

Well done to our two second classes who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday. Our choir really enhanced the ceremony with their performance and we are very grateful to Aideen Cooney for all her practice and hard work. I have to give a special mention to Reagan Jimmy for his beautiful solo performance on the day. Thanks to Mr. Walsh, Ms. Staunton, Mary Dwyer and Debbie Kerkman for preparing the boys to receive this Sacrament. We really appreciate our Parents' Association for providing light refreshments in the school after the ceremony.

Cultural Awareness

We were delighted to welcome Logan McCann and Liam Mansfield to educate us about Germany last Friday. The boys gave us some interesting facts about the country and Logan recited some poetry in German. We look forward to hearing about Somalia tomorrow.
